Weight Loss Program.
As many of us endeavor to start a weight loss program, often our success is based on our weight loss partners. Your weight loss partners would be those individuals or companies who are working with you to achieve your healthy weight loss goals. This is truly the most over looked part of a healthy weight loss program. Yet your partners quite often are the difference between success and the lack thereof. So let is review each partner and the role they play in your success.
Your Doctor.
Quite often ignored when it comes time to start a weight loss program or any physical exercise regimen we should always visit our doctor. Your doctor will not only give you a physical and make sure your heart and other internal and external systems can take the program you plan, but make sure your doctor does blood work to determine if there are any lingering diseases that would affect your plan. Many times your regular family doctors know your history and they are also aware of certain foods or nutritional vitamin supplements that might adversely affect you.
Dietitian or Nutritionist.
First the Registered Dietitian has educational background and license to suggest the best diet for you medical situation. They are the top professional to seek advice from as far as your diet. Unless you have a medical condition that requires a special diet they may be quite expensive to keep for regular consults. There are nutrition specialists who can help you formulate a meal plan for your weight loss program. Not licensed as a Medical Doctor or Registered Dietitian a good nutrition specialist can be invaluable to your weight loss team. There are even software programs and online programs that help you create a healthy well balanced nutritious meal plan. Many times people suggest you begin to eat healthy and even give you some general guidelines. Most of us are not nutrition specialist so there are many things we do not know. I like the Nutrition Generator Program as a way to help me through the maze of a healthy diet.
Certified Physical Trainer.
This is the person that will help you tailor the exercise program to your fitness level and teach you how to properly do the exercises. Many people only see them as the drill instructor types pushing you to make you successful. I do not believe that system works long term. We soon tire of the push. We must be motivated from within to successfully achieve our goals. The trainer is our coach. Because people are so busy and often can not afford a personal trainer, there are many online options today. If we complete a personal interview to develop our plan then an online coach can help our success. Boot camps and gym classes also help. The only issue is that you must find one at your fitness level. The good news is any increase in activity can help. But, there are risks that if you are not doing the best program to meet your goals you will not be successful.
Natural Nutritional Vitamin Supplements.
Yes we can all go to the local Walgreens or CVS and pick up some over the counter diet pills or weight loss plan. There are many things advertised and many people are convinced because they see a lot of commercials. By the same token there are many online pills and Multi Level Marketing Schemes that focus on selling products and claim to have the latest greatest pill or drink. We must do our due diligence and learn the product and the company. I would never be the first to try the new fad diet or weight loss pill. I want to know the product and the company and I want to work with someone who knows what they are talking about. Check out the product, the company, the endorsers and the representatives. Use common sense (whatever that is). Make sure the representative is on your team not just pushing pills. They call those drug dealers (legal or not).
Weight Loss Buddy.
Maybe the most influential partner will be your weight loss buddy. This is a spouse, friend or relative that will walk your weight loss journey with you. They know your motivation and someone you will be accountable to. Your weight loss buddy will encourage you and listen to you and they are your support. We all need a weight loss buddy.
