How to Get Enough Protein Naturally in Your Diet on Your Healthy Weight Loss Program


Protein and Weight Loss.

Many times when we decide to lose weight protein is one of the first things we eliminate from our diet. First to go is junk foods and things full of sugar and that is always the best decision. Next people stop eating meat. This is not always the best decision when it comes to losing weight. For most Americans meat, poultry and fish are the main source of protein in our diets. Quite often we eat too much “flesh” and it is necessary to reduce and even eliminate it from our diets. Especially if we are not eating lean “flesh”. In essence we need protein.

The Importance of Protein.

Muscles, hair, fingernails, and more are made up of  mostly protein. There are combinations of 20 different amino acids that make up the different proteins in our bodies. The human body produces 10 of them and we must consume the other 10. Without protein our hair would fall out, our nails would become brittle and break, and most importantly we would loose our strength as our muscles deteriorate. Everyone needs to get enough protein in their diet daily but it is even more important for those who have physically demanding jobs and who work out regularly.

Healthy Sources of Protein.

Many people believe that if you do not eat meat, fish and poultry you can not get enough protein in your daily diets. This would be true for most people if they just stopped eating flesh and did not replace it with other, healthier sources of protein. Research has shown that we absorb 92% of protein from meat sources and 91% from soy products. On the other hand too much protein from animals is  linked directly with the formation of kidney stones, and cancer of the colon and liver. This is just a simple example of how you can get enough protein naturally in your healthy weight loss diet.
