<p>Many times we want to lose weight and we have a problem choosing a program that works for us. Losing weight is important to me but my health is more important. In a series of quick tips I will introduce ideas to help us in our quest to lose weight and keep it off in a safe, effective and healthy way. These quick weight loss tips will be short,  healthy eating, fitness, nutritional vitamin supplements or general health and wellness tidbits to help meet your goals.</p>
<p><strong>Quick Tip #1 &#8211; Have a Ball.</strong></p>
<p>This idea came from <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://fatlossquickie.com/blog/30-day-home-office-fitness-challenge-day-1/"  target="_blank">Scott Tousignant</a> and is posted on his blog under his 30 day home office challenge. Scott is one of the people I follow because I like his Fat Loss Quickie Program. Today&#8217;s Quick Weight Loss Tip is to get a stability ball (fitness ball). I have been a big fan of stability balls for years and it is a great way to strengthen your mid section and work off a few pounds there. The unique tip I got from Scott is to use the ball as a chair at your home office desk. For me, I spend a lot of time at my home office desk and this will help me greatly.</p>
<p><a href="http://healthyweightloss4babyboomers.com/health-fitness-weight-loss-store#utm_source=feed&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=feed"  target="_blank"><strong>The Stability Ball.</strong></a></p>
<p>The Fitness Ball helps my improve and strengthen my posture, strengthens my core muscles, and adds a little excitement to my day as I bounce and swivel around while I work or talk to customers. Try moving from side to side or from front to back while working and see that this extra activity doesn&#8217;t engage and help build up your abdominal, lower back and oblique muscles. This is your core area where the excess fat that we want to lose is often stored. You can <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.betterhealthinnovations.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BT-BGT4-55-65&amp;click=2822&amp;source=pjn&amp;subid=18136"  target="_blank">order your stability ball here</a> or go to any store with a small fitness equipment section and get one. They run about $15 to $20 and it well be money well spent to help you lose weight and keep it off.</p>
<p><strong>Resistance Training.</strong></p>
<p>As a quick tip bonus I keep a couple of dumbbells near my desk. Once or twice a day I will take 5 to 10 minutes to do a few resistance exercises with the dumbbells. To note; as part of your program resistance exercise is the most important way to burn off fat and keep it off. So beyond our daily exercise routine we need to develop little habits that will help us increase our resistance training and build muscle to burn fat, lose weight and improve our overall health.</p>
<p><strong>Finally.</strong></p>
<p>Use your fitness ball any where and any way in your home that you will use a chair. Watch television, read a book, talk on the phone or whatever. Not only do I use my stability ball as a chair to help strengthen my core muscles, I also use it to exercise with. There are many abdominal exercises, like crunches, sit ups and back stretches that I use my stability ball for. But I also use it as a weight lifting bench. Many exercises that we can use a bench or a chair for, the fitness ball will help us engage our mid sections and build those muscles, burn that fat and help us lose weight. The stability ball is an essential part of your healthy program.</p>

<p>Did you know grocers are selling genetically modified fruit and vegetables that may be harmful to your health?</p>
<p>Not only are they selling it, there is no requirement to label them as such. This is what Dr. Mercola says on his site:</p>

<p>So pay attention and look at the number codes. If at all possible choose organic and avoid genetically modified food. Though genetically modified food has only been around since the 1990&#8217;s and there have not been many conclusions to the long term health risks. In Australia there have been problems found in lab mice. I would avoid GM foods at all costs.</p>

<p>Many of us are fasting and praying as we seek to get closer to God during this Lenten season. This is a great thing. It is important to seek God and develop a closer walk with Him. We may be denying ourselves for specific reasons or more general in nature. For instance you are praying  for a financial break through or a physical healing. You may have a character flaw or weakness to a certain temptation. You may even just walk to get closer to God or experience the power of the Holy Spirit. These are all great reasons to fast and pray. Because the bible lets us know there are some obstacles we can not overcome in our lives without fasting and praying. The bible also shows us prayer and fasting as a form of repentance for sins. In either case or in the case of intercessory prayer, I highly recommend self sacrifice and personal denial seek to overcome the tougher obstacles in life.</p>
<p><strong>Healthy Fasting </strong></p>
<p>Regardless of your reasons before you fast you must access the type of fast you are committing to and your personal health condition to determine if it is the right fast for you. If you are not eating for periods of time, make sure you discuss this with your physician. Especially if you have known dietary health problems like diabetes. Even if have other conditions like high blood pressure or high cholesterol, abstension from food is not good for you. So please discuss the changes to your diet with your doctor. Now this assumes you see your doctor regularly. If you don not you should. Always consult your doctor for substantial changes to the way you eat. Especially when you diet or fast.</p>
<p><strong>Drink Plenty of Water and Avoid Sugar</strong></p>
<p>That says it all. As you fast remember to drink plenty of water. More than you usually do. Our body needs water to survive. Water also limits hunger pains. On the other hand a diet with too much sugar is deadly. If we limit many of what we eat and still eat sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white processed foods that convert to sugar then our bodies become out of balance and we become more susceptable to serious diseases like cancer, heart disease and diabetes.</p>
<p><strong>Final Note</strong></p>
<p>If you fast to seek God, great!</p>
<p>Fasting to lose weight is an absolute no no. A drastic reduction in caloric intake and your body can go into starvation mode. This means your metabolism slows down and your body begins to store fat. That is the wrong course of action for those looking to lose weight.</p>
<p>Yet you want to seek God and continue to lose weight, you must exercise and not do a dramatic fast.  Remember your prayers are the most important ingredient to seeking God. God does not want our bodies torn down, even if it is in the name of getting to know him better or getting a break through.</p>
