Pray Without Ceasing.

We live in a world that seams to have many people declare themselves to be Christians and who claim to serve God. Many people claim to have a personal relationship with God. We see bumper stickers on many cars with “Christian” sayings, symbols and representations of their churches yet the world seems to  be full of evil. Children are not safe in their schools. Violence in general is everywhere. There is less respect for authority and for our seniors and elders. The economy is bad. The gap between the rich and poor is ever widening. America is fighting two wars and there are threats of a third and fourth war. These are all things that require us to pray without ceasing.

Pray for Families.

There is an erosion of the family. More than 50% of all children are raised in single parent homes. Divorce is on a continual rise. Many people just choose not to marry. The extended families are even more distant and extended. With the erosion of families come the erosion of family values. We are not teaching our children to respect elders because the family structure is not in place. If the family is destroyed and rendered to little effect, then so is the community. The first institution God put into place was a marriage between Adam and Eve. The first thing Satan wanted to destroy was the tri fold relationship where the family trusted and obeyed God. To restore family and community we must restore the relationship and trust and obedience to God. This requires us to pray for our families and for our families to be praying families.

God Loves Us Unconditionally.

Despite our lack of trust and our lack of obedience God loves us unconditionally. His arms are wide open for our return to him. God continually gives us the call to come back to him. He loves us and he wants to be in relation with us. Through Jesus, God has made a way for all who believe to be made whole. All God requires is that we accept and believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. If we confess our sins God is faithful to forgive us. The with the covering of Jesus we can go to God in prayer and he will bless us with relationship with him. As we build this relationship with God through prayer, we build the family. As we build family we build community. The key is individual and corporate prayer. One person and one family at a time. With God’s unconditional love he will restore us to a right relationship with him. The answer is prayer.

What is Your Prayer to God?

In a general sense God wants us to pray without ceasing. He wants us to pray for everyone and every situation in our lives. God wants us to be aware and pray for the big situations going on in the world. But more importantly God wants to have an intimate personal relationship with you. What is going on in your life? Good, bad, indifferent whatever is going on in your life is a reason to talk and share it with God. This is the true ceaseless prayer that God wants from each of us. For prayer is a conversation with a superior that you know has the power and ability to answer and change things. Prayer is a conversation where you give and you receive. But, in your praying you must acknowledge that it is God’s Will that must be done and he will direct your path. God has plans that are good for you, plans that will prosper you yet we must submit our will to his will and he will answer our prayers. What is your prayer to God?

Pray to God.

“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. ” (James 5:13a niv)

As a man or woman of faith it is important that we know in our daily lives we do get in trouble. Things happen. Sometimes we are the cause of the trouble, other times things happen that are out of our control. Regardless of the reason or the circumstance, when we are in trouble we should pray. Sadly, I really need not say this because that is when most people pray. Whether they have a relationship with God or not.

My Personal Relationship.

I know growing up my parents were divorced when I was 11 years old and we lived with my mother. One day I asked my father for a few bucks (why I needed it I can not remember) and he told me I only called or came around when I needed something. He was right. But, I took that the wrong way. I stopped calling or coming around. This is how we sometimes treat our heavenly father. We only call on him or talk to him when we need something.

Like my earthly father, God wants us to have a relationship with him. He wants more than to just help us when we are in trouble. I believe my father would not withhold any good thing from me. In that same sense how much more would a holy righteous father give to his beloved children. God is encouraging us to seek him and call on him when we are in trouble. It is when we are at our lowest that we realize that God Is and that He cares for us. God wants to renew us, to build us up and reunite us with him. It often is our stubborn, self centered, know it all, unrepentant and unsubmissive natures that prevents us from having the personal intimate relationship that God desires.

No One But God.

Who else can help us out of any trouble. I know there were limits of what my earthly father could do. My earthly father was not rich, nor was he a doctor, a lawyer, nor did he own his own company. My father was not the Mayor, the Governor, the President or even a police chief. My father was not the judge or the jury. There were so many things that my father could not do. But for God, nothing is impossible. My heavenly father owns the cattle on a thousand hills, He makes the sunrise and the sunset. My Father keeps the ocean in its place and he has the whole world in his hands. God can mend broken hearts, He is the master Doctor and Lawyer. He can do all things. This is the father that says come to me when you are in trouble. Quite often people would see us in need and they want to help. They will say if there is anything you need let me know. We know that these well intentioned friends can not solve our problems. There is only one source to handle any need you have. He said call on me when you have trouble.

Pray to God When You are in Trouble.

Aren’t you glad Jesus Christ said “Come to me all of you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.”

So God calls all who are in trouble to pray and call his name. He will give you rest and peace amidst the storm. Do not ignore his call to you. Do not let another opportunity go buy to grow closer to God.
