My Weight Loss Journey

For 5 months I have shared what I have learned on my weight loss journey. I have share tips and advice about healthy weight loss and how to have a plan. I do have a weight loss plan and I need to share what I am doing and how it is working for me.

For starters my weight loss journey is similar to many people I know. We realize that we are overweight and not eating healthy. We realize that we need to do something about it but we never really change. The little comments from “family, friends, associates and well wishers” that dig at us like those pants are too tight, or you look like you are pregnant, ha ha. These comments stick with us but it was really not enough to motivate me to change. Really for me being 40 pounds overweight was not the motivating factor at all. It all changed for me as I reached 50 years old and saw so much death and sickness around me. The reality is that I was going through a midlife crisis.

My father let us know he had terminal cancer, a couple of friends who were my age were fighting cancer along with my pastors wife. On top of all of that we were in an economic crisis that came out of the housing industry. My industry for over 20 years. All of these things made me seek solutions for my life. I began to look at where I was going and what I was doing and realized I was going down the same path that leads to premature death. When I looked at my health, my weight and my diet I knew I had to make a change. So I began to eat healthy. I also began to intensively research what is truly a healthy diet.

I did not want to a healthy diet just to lose weight. I was more concerned about lowering my risk of cancer and heart disease. So for me a healthy diet was not initially about weight loss. The more I researched and studied the more I realized that I needed to lose weight to be healthy. I could lose weight by eating a balanced diet of fruit and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and beans. I did. I lost weight without exercising or nutritional supplements or anything but a healthy diet. But then I hit a wall. I was still committed. I still ate healthy without compromise. But after I lost about 17 pounds I was stuck. I could not lose anymore. I even gained a couple of pounds back. I knew something was missing but I really thought it was just a healthy diet I needed. But, I was wrong.

We need more than just a healthy diet for healthy weight loss. We need a comprehensive healthy weight loss program. Stay tuned. I will share my personal healthy weight loss plan.

My Personal Healthy Weight Loss Plan – Motivation

My Weight Loss Journey

As I have journeyed for that last six months I have developed my personal healthy weight loss plan. This has happened out of a burning desire to become healthy and lose weight to live longer, prevent cancer, heart disease and other major diseases as I strive to live healthy.  My weight loss journey was motivated by tragedy in my family and the motivation to not go out like that. I made a choice. We all have choices to make. I made a choice not because I was sick (though I really was and did not know it). I made a choice not because I was suffering from being overweight ( though I was and really did not know it). I made a choice though because hitting that middle aged, baby boomer, mid life crises, I began to see the down hill side of things. So now I have motivation.

Motivation

That really is the first part to any weight loss plan. You must have personal motivation. This is not someone telling me to get in shape or telling me to lose weight. My personal motivation came from within. Truly your personal motivation must come from within if you want to successfully live a healthy lifestyle. Yes it is hard in the beginning and that is why you need to be motivated so that you can stick to your plan and do what you need to do everyday to meet your goals. For me my motivation and weight loss plan had to not just be a personal motivation but it had to be spiritual. My motivation had to come from within based on my personal experiences and I have to be led by the Spirit of God. Accordingly I know the Spirit of God as opposed to other spirits because God leads according to His Word, The holy Bible. I do not ask you to believe or be led as I am. I do not even ask you to believe as I believe or have faith that what I say is true. I will provide proof and you can accept what I say if you choose. For this is My Personal Weight Loss Plan. I have lost nearly 40 pounds and I keep it off by eating healthy, exercising regularly and using healthy natural herbal supplements to ensure my body gets all its vitamins, minerals and nutrients to work at its optimal level. So for six months it has been my personal motivation based on my personal experiences and led by God’s Spirit and Word that has helped me to lose weight, begin to get fit and keep the weight off as I live a healthy lifestyle. I needed to stay motivated to last this long as my personal healthy weight loss plan was no longer a chore, but it became a way of life. This is the next step to success is to make your plan your way of life.

Follow me as I will explore how my new way of life has helped me to lose 40 pounds and keep it off.
